Sabih Khan steps into a key leadership role, marking a new chapter in Apple’s global operations strategy.

Apple Inc. has announced the promotion of longtime executive Sabih Khan to the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO), as current COO Jeff Williams prepares to retire later this year. The transition is part of a carefully planned leadership restructuring at the Cupertino-based tech giant.

Khan, who currently holds the position of Senior Vice President of Operations, will officially assume the COO role later this month. With nearly three decades at Apple, his elevation reflects both his operational expertise and strategic leadership in building Apple’s global supply chain.

About Sabih Khan

Born in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, in 1966, Sabih Khan is of Indian origin and relocated to Singapore during his early schooling years. He later earned degrees in Economics and Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University and completed a master’s in Mechanical Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York.

Before joining Apple in 1995, Khan worked at GE Plastics. At Apple, he rose through the ranks and joined the executive team in 2019. Over the years, he has led major initiatives related to supply chain management, manufacturing, logistics, and sustainability. Under his leadership, Apple has significantly reduced its carbon footprint and expanded its manufacturing presence in the U.S.

A Thoughtful Transition

Jeff Williams, one of Apple’s most influential executives, will remain with the company during the transition period and continue to oversee product design, the Apple Watch, and the company’s health initiatives. Eventually, the design team will report directly to CEO Tim Cook as Williams exits his role.

Tim Cook’s Endorsement

Apple CEO Tim Cook praised Khan’s contributions, calling him a visionary strategist behind the company’s resilient supply chain. “Sabih has helped develop cutting-edge manufacturing technologies, grow our production capabilities in the United States, and advance Apple’s sustainability goals,” said Cook.

Future-Ready Leadership

Khan’s promotion signals Apple’s intent to double down on sustainable growth, operational agility, and innovation. As the tech industry continues to evolve, Apple is aligning its leadership to meet emerging global challenges head-on—with Khan now at the forefront.
